Plant Sales Associate

We are looking for an exceptional individual to add to our small, plant-y team.

​

The ideal candidate will...

-have a deep knowledge of houseplants and be able to communicate plant care to customers

-be willing to learn and comply with the plant care advice GreenSpell recommends

-be self-driven to identify tasks that need to be completed at the shop

-be a hard worker, honest, dependable, upbeat

-be willing and enthusiastic about participating in shop promotions via social media

-must be 18+ to apply

Job duties:

-Open and close the shop, independently

-Welcome every customer who walks through the door

-Maintain a positive demeanor

-Operate point of sale (Square) with speed and accuracy

-Answer phone

-Wrap and package purchases to ensure safe transport

-Be a source of knowledge for customers, giving great plant advice and recommendations

-Maintain a clean and ordered shop (sweeping, mopping, window cleaning, re-arranging merchandise)

-Plant care (watering, spraying, checking for pests, repotting, identifying plant disease and issues)

-Process plant orders (inspect, clean, and water new plants as needed - accurately tag, inventory, and display in shop)

-Receive and process merchandise orders

*Must be able to lift 50 pounds, lift arms above head, climb a small step stool to fetch items on upper shelves, and stand for the duration of the shift

This is a really fun and rewarding job. While we expect our new hires to come with a passion for plants and a lot of prior knowledge, you will inevitably learn a lot and work with plants that are new to you. Our customers are generally in a great mood. It can be fast paced as well as very low key at times.

Additional details:

-Pay starts at $15/hr, with potential to increase annually based upon performance

-We offer a plant discount to employees!

-Must be available weekends and during busy holidays (Mother's Day, Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, Christmas Eve, etc)

The shop is typically only closed Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, New Years Day, July 4th. 

We're hiring specifically for regular shifts on Sundays 10am-5, Mondays & Tuesdays 2pm-6pm (some flexibility here)

-Potential for an increase in hours depending on performance

This is not a seasonal position, looking for a long-term hire
